Coyote and Fox Woman
Coyote and Fox are good friends in many folk tales, especially those from north west and great basin
areas. Fox Woman is a mythic figure from Japan, although fox also appears in female guise in some
southwestern tales. This picture shows Coyote, who thinks himself the all time great lover of the
world meeting and hopefully courting Fox Woman. Fox Woman on the other hand, being a wily and
tricky figure herself, probably will get the up hand.
This original linocut was run in a series of 32 prints.
